Thoughts and Technologies for Change

Who are we?

What’s reality?

What’s the purpose of life?

How can we fulfill our own unique potential?

Who do we love to be and what do we love to do?

How can we create peace within ourselves and the world?

How can we create a world that is more loving, truthful and joyful?

What works best for ALL of us – in personal terms and in terms of business, education, the environment and peace?

In other words, how can we live and enjoy life without maiming and killing each other?

Asking questions and never assuming we know the final answer to anything keeps our hearts and minds open, don’t you agree?

The 21st Century serves as a natural timeframe for building a dream, a vehicle for life in the New Millennium that will help transport mankind through the next 1,000 years in peace and safety.

To meet the challenges we face in life, we must think our way out of them for it is our thoughts and feelings that create them in the first place. As we think, we create – change what we think, and we change what we create.

Real Talk World: Life is about seeing where we are, deciding where we want to be, and getting from here to there. It does not have to be about right and wrong, good and bad, guilt and punishment. It does not have to be about comparing ourselves to one another, or comparing ourselves and one another to outside standards of being and performance (value judgment). It does not have to be about fear, separation, scarcity and competition (survival of the fittest). It does not have to be about living in an unsafe and hostile world of predators and victims. It does not have to be about sleepwalking through life by following an arbitrary set of external “rules”. It does not have to be about control from the outside, in.

Instead, life can be about paying attention to our own unique experience and developing internal values over a lifetime of living and learning. It can be about playfulness, experimentation and paying attention to what works for us and what doesn’t, what makes us happy and what doesn’t. It can be about accepting our own worth and listening to our own Inner Voice or soul. It can be about actively seeking the qualities of life and being we value most, our ideals, and actualizing them to the best of our ability!

It can be about valuing the oneness of All That Is, as well as our own unique individuality. It can be about valuing You, Me and Us equally. It can be about survival AND creation. It can be about consciously changing ourselves, and the world, for the better. It can be about learning how to control and shape the expression of our own energy and reality from the inside, out.

In life and business, how many of us ask: is what I’m doing good? Do my actions improve the quality of life or undermine it? Do they increase humanity’s chances for survival or threaten it?

Instead of creating a world of predators and victims by letting thoughts of fear, separation and competition dominate our thinking why not ask:

This takes YOU, ME and US (everyone and everything) into consideration. It not only accounts for the fact that we’re both one AND separate, it accepts that we’re not only the product of creation; we are creation itself! To expand this question further, ask:

  • What will work best for ALL of us in personal terms? (What is the best way for us to fulfill our own unique potential in support of the world AND ourselves?)
  • What will work best for ALL of us in terms of business? (What is the best way for us to sustain the health and well-being of the planet and humanity?)
  • What will work best for ALL of us in terms of education? (What is the best way for us to learn and grow? What are the most important things for us to know?)
  • What will work best for ALL of us in terms of the environment? (What is the best way for us to treat nature and the earth?)
  • What will work best for ALL of us in terms of peace? (What is the best way for us to treat ourselves as individuals and nations?)

The growing collapse of our economic and social system (increases in the number of people in the world and in jail, homelessness, joblessness, food shortages, disease, wars, global warming, unsustainable growth and the loss of wealth), can be laid at the feet of putting individuality and self-interest (ego) ahead of oneness and the common good. A similar imbalance occurs when we put the common good ahead of self-interest. Why not create a system that balances both? By giving equal value to both our oneness and individuality, we make it possible to cooperate, not compete with one another. By asking questions that include ALL of us, we not only acknowledge our oneness and individuality, we acknowledge our individual and collective roles, and responsibility, in co-creating our shared reality.

Imagine This

Suppose that, from a spiritual standpoint, there is no right or wrong, good or bad, guilt or punishment – there just IS; there is what works for us and what doesn’t, what makes us happy and what doesn’t. To many of us, this statement flies in the face of everything we see and know as human beings; but, is it not possible that what we see today is the result of negative beliefs passed down from generation to generation without question? When we believe that life is about survival of the fittest, it’s eat or be eaten, kill or be killed, we act accordingly and expect the same behavior from others. When we believe that we’re good and we can trust ourselves, we create a reality that reflects this belief.

Despite the fog of popular negative beliefs, many of us know that we’re good, not bad, trustworthy, not untrustworthy, and that life in general is more about love and cooperation than fear and competition. When we think we’re bad and we can’t trust ourselves, we force ourselves to create a world of external values and rules to control our behavior; we listen to other human voices, instead of our own Inner Self or soul. In the process, we lose sight of who we are and what reality is.

When we accept that, spiritually, there is no right or wrong, good or bad, we put ourselves in the driver’s seat of our own lives; we remove the training wheels from our bicycles. When we evaluate everything in terms of what works for us and what doesn’t, what makes us happy and what doesn’t, our powers of observation and descernment develop, and we discover the role and power of imagination in our lives. In a life of growing understanding and expanding awareness, responsibility is seen as necessary for this process to take place. In the spirit of Yoda, “keep us on our toes, this does.”

This practical self-understanding not only acknowledges our oneness AND separation, it acknowledges our Being as both the product of creation and creation itself! In other words, it admits that we have a strong say over who we are and what we do. When we choose to do things for our own reasons, we empower ourselves and take control of our own lives. This liberating strategy forces us (the Outer Ego Self) to question, explore, experiment and grow. In the process, we cannot help but discover the inner, subjective realms of reality, our Inner Senses and abilities (see: The Inner Senses), and our inner selves or egos, that portion of our consciousness that awakes when our outer ego self or identity, sleeps, or consciously accepts the presence of the Inner Self (see: Encounter with Unconditional Love and The “Suckface” Incident for examples). Our Inner Selves are more knowledgeable than our Outer Selves, which gives us access to even higher levels of consciousness: (see: Ask Value Questions and Listen for Intuitive Answers for examples.)

If you find it hard to change old belief and reaction patterns that have defined you in the past, imaginatively create a new box to play in, one that is unconditionally loving and free of value judgment. Create a “clean room” that allows you to explore new ideas. Suspend old beliefs that tell you you’re bad and you can’t trust yourself. These are beliefs that weaken your sense of self and make you dependent on those who want to see themselves as good and smart. This good-bad, right-wrong script plays out in only one way: it lets thoughts of fear and competition dominate our thinking and lays the groundwork for a world of predators and victims. Is this something you want or can you do better? What makes the most sense to you or appeals to your idealism most, a world based on fear and competition or one based on love and cooperation? Love or fear – that seems to be the question. We are not bad, it is our beliefs about who we are that are bad.

Active and thoughtful participation in the creation of our reality is the change we are waiting for!

Responsibility (response-ability, accountability, creativity and self-development) is the key to freedom, peace and long-term human survival. We can experience life as a burdensome journey of pain and suffering or a creative opportunity to learn and grow. As creative beings our ultimate challenge is to see where we are, decide where we want to be, and get from here to there, safely and responsibly.

What defines success for you now – money, power and privilege or love, truth and joy? What do you WANT to define success for you? What we choose serves as the foundation for the creation of our reality, so we must choose as though the nature and quality of our lives depends on it – because it does!

Create New Rituals – The Love Affirmation

Too often we fail to examine the intent or content of established rituals, even religious ones. Some rituals tear us down instead of build us up. In this competitive world of right and wrong, good and bad, guilt and punishment, this should probably be expected. The only way around this problem is to create our own rituals. I modelled one of mine after the Catholic Sign of the Cross. If you’re not familiar with it, it involves touching your forehead, your heart, your left shoulder and your right shoulder as you repeat: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen”. The “Father” in this ritual is God, the “Son” is Jesus Christ, and the “Holy Spirit” refers to their loving Father/Son relationship. “Amen” closes the blessing.

I don’t know about you, but this ritual, and others in our culture, make me feel left out in the cold. It’s as if I’m somehow unworthy and my “proper” place is outside the Sacred Circle looking in. People support this and similar rituals even though it forces them to depend on others to acknowledge their worth. Why, because it’s established and gives structure in their lives? Why would those who perpetuate rituals that force dependence on others want to do that, for power and control over others? Some of us like to make others feel inferior so they can feel superior. Why wouldn’t we when it justifies us getting extra perks in this competitive world, not that we don’t have work hard for them. Witness the difference in pay between today’s CEOs and their employees, and the guaranteed medical and retirement benefits enjoyed by politicians verses the public.

My modified Sign of the Cross holds more meaning for me. When I touch my forehead, heart, left shoulder and right shoulder, I repeat the words – I love you, me, us and All That Is. Just for the fun of it, I move my hand around in a small circle before touching my right shoulder to symbolize the inclusion of All That Is. It feels great! Try it yourself.

In my Love Affirmation, everyone and everything is included in the Sacred Circle. No one or thing is left out. In this affirmation, “You” and “Me” represent our individuality and “Us”, refers to the sacred nature of our relationship, our oneness. “All That Is”, of course, includes All That Is in our blessing. You can use the word “You” in this blessing to refer to anyone or anything you choose in the moment. It can be your spouse, your friend, your “enemy”, a tree, an animal or the world, whatever suits your fancy. Experiment. Be creative! Sometimes, at the end of the blessing, I add: Nothing we can ever think, say or do can keep us from being loved, unconditionally, which is derived from an Encounter with the Energy of Unconditional Love on Mt. St. Helena, Calistoga, CA, in 1985.

Instead of only going through the motion of performing this exercise, really get into it! Stop at every point and creatively think about the object of your blessing. Really mean it and it will have a powerful effect on you, and the world. Isn’t love is the light and the way?

Experiment with The Love Affirmation – the proof of its value is in what it does for you and how it makes you feel.

There is the biological way to create reality, getting an education and finding a job, and there is the spiritual way to create reality. Why not use both?

The Spiritual Way to Create Reality – Intention and Wonder

Do you want to call love, truth and joy into your life and the world? Ask yourself (your Inner and Outer Self) or the Consciousness of All That Is:

  • Where is love, truth and joy in my life?
  • Where is love, truth and joy in the world?

By asking questions like these, you can draw whatever you want into your life, if, at the same time, you’re willing to remove any limiting or conflicting beliefs. Like any thought-form, once the knowledge of something exists, it exists for all time and can be called into our presence through attention and focus. (See Pete’s Creation Dreams for examples.) When we “wonder” about something, it appears in our minds, and if we give it enough energy, it will appear in our physical reality in one form or another. We get (attract) what we concentrate on whether it’s out of love, curiosity or fear.

Intention is another way to consciously create reality. Intention experiments are being conducted all over the globe (See Lynne McTaggart website). Actually, all of us play with the power of intention in our lives. When we wish someone good or bad experiences , we’re experimenting with telepathy and the power of intention. Sometimes, our belief in telepathy and the power of intention exists as nothing more than intuitive suspicion.

Experiment with the spiritual approach to reality creation. Be creative! It doesn’t cost a dime, just a creative bit of your time. If whatever you create is not fun, stop doing it! And, remember, what you give is what you get; give love and you get love, give hate and you get hate.

Ask your Inner Self questions like, where is my confidence or what do I have to do to get it? If you feel the need to develop the ability to speak publically, ask your Inner Self, where’s the great public speaker in me, or what can I do to become one? If it is important to you, ask your Inner Self, where is the great writer, mother, father, teacher or basketball player in me? What do I have to do to develop these skills or aspects of my greater self? Ask questions and the answers will come.

Be who you love to be and do what you love to do. Use the power of love and natural passion to consciously create the person you want to be, and the world you want to live in.

There is no greater show of LOVE than the acknowledgment of power and worth in others and ourselves.

Conversely, there is no greater show of FEAR than the denial of power and worth in others and ourselves.

As Aware Energy with SELF awareness, we are both one AND separate.

We are not only the product of creation; we are creation itself!

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

We create our own reality from what we choose to believe about ourselves, and the world around us.

If we do not CONSCIOUSLY choose our own beliefs, we UNCONSCIOUSLY absorb them from our surroundings.

If we are accountable (responsible) for our actions, how can we afford NOT to question our beliefs?

How you define yourself, and the world around you, forms your intent, which, in turn, forms your reality. – Seth

The more we love and understand ourselves, the better we treat ourselves, and the world.

Blessings of love and understanding be to us all!

The secrets of the universe lie hidden in the shadows of your experience. Look for them!
